How to Attract Customers in the Digital Age

Digital Marketing

Connecting to your customers is easier now than it ever has been in the past. Technology and social media have transformed the world we live in, creating a digital space for customers and companies to interact. This new digital era allows you to tap into specific customer segments and demographics, allowing you to reach your ideal customers. It no longer matters how big or small your company is – it matters if you are online!

The big question is, where do you start and what do you need to do to tap into this audience? Check out our tips below.

  1. Content is king. Content refers to anything from descriptions, web copy, video, case studies, customer testimonials, social media posts and images. Content helps you describe your company and highlight the differentiators you think are important to your business. You can craft and tailor your content to the specific audience you are wanting to reach, or for the specific platform you are using to disseminate this content. For example, if you are trying to raise brand awareness through social media, a company video with a short description on Facebook would be perfect. Quick, easy-to-read posts are a great option for social media.
  2. Social media platforms. Since social media has evolved into a huge customer interaction tool, it’s important to understand the differences between each platform. The most popular social media platforms include Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, YouTube and LinkedIn. There are so many to choose from, so make sure you choose the platforms that work best for your company. If you know that your company will only be able to regularly post on Facebook or YouTube, then narrow your focus to building your audience base on those two platforms. Also, make sure you are regularly posting relevant information and original content. You might not always have original content, but make sure it relates to your audience. To help you build up your initial audience, try social advertising. Platforms like Facebook allow you to target your audience based on interests and demographics. This is a great way to grow a following on your social platforms.
  3. Website. If you have a ton of content and great social media audiences, you will need somewhere to direct your customers. A company website is one of the most important items to create. A website tells your company story, outlines the products and services you offer, highlights how to contact your company and you can add the functionality that allows customers to schedule appointments. Websites allow anyone in the world to find you. Make sure you have a plan for your site, it’s mobile optimized, easy to navigate and uses search engine optimization (SEO). Using basic SEO techniques, such as placing specific and relevant keywords within your content will boost your website to the top of Google searches. Google search is a very common tool customers use to find information they need, such as Garage Door Installers.
  4. Technology. We live in a world where technology is constantly changing and improving. One thing is for sure, smart phones are not going away any time soon. This means that your customers have access to email, social media, websites and apps within one touch of their phone. According to a recent PEW Research Center study, 77% of Americans own a smart phone (source: IDA Legal & Legislation; Tech and Your Workforce). This is a very important statistic which solidifies the importance and need to be easily accessible to your customers with a strong social media presence and website.

Make sure you are taking advantage of all of the opportunities to attract new customers, retain old customers and get insight into new markets. It doesn’t matter if you are a smaller garage door company, or a nationwide garage door installation company – tap into your audience!
